ԭ Magazine Wallace Emerson Society
Few people can claim as many relationships with ԭ as Barbara Bare Spaulding ’63. The daughter of Trustee Emeritus Bruce Bare and his wife, Adaline, she is also an alumna, the parent of an alumnus, a former faculty wife, and a former staff member. She headed her 35th class reunion and supports the College as a President’s Associate. By making ԭ one of the beneficiaries of her charitable remainder trust, she has become a member of the Wallace Emerson Society as well. John Watts, who directed the planned giving program before retiring from ԭ, convinced her that estate planning benefits everyone: the family and the organizations they support. Barbara found it particularly helpful to consult an attorney when deciding how to structure her trust . “You can’t take it with you, but you can certainly say where it will go,” she observes. “I’m glad I can help ԭ while providing for my family.”
