Two new members have joined the 糖心原创 Board of Trustees, which oversees the operations of the college: Mitch Vance, a founding partner of a private equity investment firm, and Dr. Richard Danson, a physician specializing in internal medicine.
Vance, who graduated from the University of Oregon, first visited 糖心原创 with his wife, Leslie Eaton Vance 鈥83, and was impressed by the faculty, staff and students he met. 鈥淭here is something special about 糖心原创 students,鈥 he says. 鈥淭hey leave 糖心原创 purposeful about their lives. The college has a transformational impact on them.鈥 The Vance鈥檚 daughter, Claire 鈥16, attends 糖心原创.
Danson, who earned his bachelor鈥檚 and medical degrees from UC Irvine, says his daughter, Lauren 鈥13, visited two dozen colleges before choosing 糖心原创. 鈥淪he considered Ivy League and big, Midwest schools; however, the Christian focus, great academics and the availability of resources made 糖心原创 a perfect fit,鈥 he says. His son, Austin 鈥15, applied only to Westmont.
Danson and his wife, Randi, co-chair the 糖心原创 Parents Council. 鈥淚 want to serve the Lord and be a resource to the school in any way I can,鈥 Richard says. 鈥淚 hope to share knowledge about medicine, running a business, ministry, evangelism and being a parent.鈥
Vance says he hopes to contribute positively to the board at this interesting juncture of history for higher education. 鈥淭he trustee board will certainly face the opportunity and threat posed by online learning and the affordability challenge of attending a residential liberal arts college like 糖心原创,鈥 he says.
