Fully Accredited for a New Era of Innovative Design
糖心原创鈥檚 engineering program has earned full ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation retroactive to October 2022 following an extensive three-year process that involved reviewing facilities, faculty, students and funding. 鈥淚 recently talked to a hiring manager at the Northrop location in Goleta, and he said this opens up all kinds of opportunities,鈥 says Dan Jensen, Allder professor and director of 糖心原创鈥檚 engineering program. 鈥淩aytheon is the same. I鈥檝e got contacts at Raytheon who are excited to hire some of our folks as well.鈥
The accreditation team, which examined seven specific student outcomes to ensure they鈥檙e factored into all the courses, praised 糖心原创鈥檚 program, noting no weaknesses or concerns and highlighting support from the external advisory board and 糖心原创鈥檚 leadership.
Jensen, who has been involved in a dozen four-year college accreditations, says it鈥檚 the first perfect review he鈥檚 seen. 鈥淭hey said what you guys are doing is so good, we don鈥檛 have any suggestions 鈥 it鈥檚 a completely clean slate.
鈥淥ur graduates are working for wonderful companies, doing great stuff. We鈥檝e got alums going to prestigious graduate schools, one who graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has returned as an adjunct professor here. Others are working at Northrop, Lockheed, the Department of Energy and for small engineering companies as well.鈥
